Chief Operating Officer (COO) {General Operations/Programme Manager/Product Manager}

We are looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to oversee our organization’s ongoing operations and procedures. You will be the company’s second-in-command and you will be responsible for the efficiency of the business.

 

The COO role is a key member of the senior management team, reporting only to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and on occasion to the board. In this role, you would be responsible for ideating and implementing key programmes and partnerships that align with the objectives of the community and the needs of its users

You’ll have to maintain control of diverse business operations and projects, so we expect you to be an experienced and efficient leader.

General Responsibilities

 

  • Represents the heir apparent for the CEO and may stand in for the CEO if this senior executive is out of the office or otherwise engaged. The COO might also assist in training and guiding a CEO who is new to the organization and help this person get used to the business’s operations and strategy.
  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives (IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance etc.)
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision.
  • Coordinates with marketing and sales departments to determine pricing, timing, and number of sales promotions, and products to be sold.
  • Determines labor needs to meet production goals.
  • Organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Developing new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Creating a shared brain across larger teams to empower independent decision-making.
  • Aligning stakeholders around the vision for the product.

Chief Operating Officer(COO)
  • Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures
  • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
  • Manage relationships with partners/vendors
  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or relevant role
  • Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, marketing etc.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Experience in fundraising will be a plus
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus

  • Plans and organizes daily activities related to production and operations.
  • Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports.
  • Coordinates with other support departments such as human resources, finance, and logistics to ensure successful production operations.
  • Oversees the shipping and receiving functions.
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
  • Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Programme Manager
  • planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action
  • defining the programme’s governance arrangements
  • ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme – focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the programme, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards
  • managing the programme’s budget on behalf of the SRO, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses
  • effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • the ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams
  • good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes
  • sound business case development and approvals skills

Product Manager
  • Defines the product vision, strategy and roadmap.
  • Gathers, manages, and prioritizes market/customer requirements.
  • Acts as the customer advocate articulating the user’s and/or buyer’s needs.
  • Works closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and support to ensure business case and customer satisfaction goals are met.
